Quebec man pleads guilty to past sex offence
Adult offender admits to touching young girl sexually when babysitting her in Oromocto a decade ago during his teen years; Crown apologizes to defence for past comments
The case of a historical sex-crime case was back on the Fredericton youth court docket Wednesday.
The defendant - a 26-year-old man from Quebec City - faced charges of sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose and inviting a minor to touch him for a sexual purpose.
The charges alleged events in Oromocto between July 1, 2010 and Aug. 31, 2015, when the defendant was under the age of 18.
Even though he was an adult when the charges were laid, his identity is nevertheless protected by the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, as is the identity of the victim.
Crown prosecutor Karen Lee and defence lawyer Adrian Forsythe said they’d reached a resolution in the case.
