Program honours top Fredericton volunteers
City hall seeks nominations for annual Community Recognition Awards to hail contributions
Volunteers help keep communities going, and the City of Fredericton is looking for suggestions for those who make the capital a better place to live.
City hall issued a news release last week announcing that it’s accepting nominations for its annual Community Recognition Awards, aimed at acknowledging people and organizations who shape the community through volunteer efforts.
“Strong communities are built with the help of dedicated volunteers who offer their time, energy, skills for the benefit of others in so many ways,” the release said.
“In Fredericton, we have a great history of volunteering and community involvement motivated by the spirit of generosity.”
The awards - open to all - strive to recognize the efforts of people and groups who contribute recreational, cultural, or charitable services within the capital, it said.
Anyone who knows of someone who has gone above and beyond to improve life in Fredericton and the people in the community is urged to submit names as award candidates through this online form.
The deadline for nominations is May 3.
