Prior sex crime could play role in incest case
Grand Lake man accused of having sexual intercourse with daughter more than decade ago
A Grand Lake-area man accused of sexually abusing his underage daughter years ago has a criminal record for a similar sex crime, and the Crown is seeking to introduce it as similar-fact evidence.
The 55-year-old defendant appeared in the Court of King’s Bench at the Burton Courthouse on Monday for a pre-trial conference on his case.
He’s accused of touching his underage daughter for a sexual purpose, inviting her to touch him sexually, touching her while in a position of trust or authority over her, sexually assaulting her and committing incest by having intercourse with the child knowing they were blood relatives, all in the Grand Lake area between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2014.
He’d previously elected to be tried in by a Court of King’s Bench judge alone, without a jury, and his trial is scheduled for Jan. 6 and 7.
