Princess Margaret Bridge to close for weeks
Tender documents indicate resurfacing and waterproofing project for span between north, south sides of Fredericton will require full closure of vital connection for more than a month
Fredericton will be without one of its two bridges for more than a month in a few weeks’ time, leaving commuters adjusting to make alternate travel plans amid expected delays.
The provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure issued a tender this month for a major resurfacing and waterproofing project on the bridge between the Lower St. Mary’s and Forest Hill neighbourhoods on the north and south sides of the St. John River, respectively.
The tender for Contract 24-0570 - which closed Monday morning - is for paving of 1.2 kilometres of road including the bridge and the northside approach.
The details in the lengthy contract information included with the tender indicates the bridge will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the repaving project.
