Potential conflict issue arises in murder case
Counsel for Corey Agnew, 35, of Minto, says they’ll file motion seeking direction from court
The Crown has concerns that a lawyer representing an accused in a double-murder prosecution has a conflict of interest, but that defence counsel wants a judge to decide if that’s the case.
Corey Agnew, 35, of Willow Drive in Minto, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the Nov. 25 deaths of Robert (Robbie) Wayne Waugh, 47, and Victoria King, 23.
They were found dead in a burning SUV on Midland Road in Midland, near Chipman, that morning.
Agnew appeared by telephone from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Thursday, so the court could set a date for his preliminary hearing in the case.
