Parolee facing new charges back in prison
Defence counsel for Evan James Polchies, 38, of Bilijk First Nation, says client’s recent re-incarceration means court appearance can’t proceed, as no come-out order was issued
With no order from the court to arrange a federal prisoner’s appearance in court Friday, new drug-trafficking allegations against a convicted killer had to be set over for a couple of weeks.
Evan James Polchies, 38, of Geegan Street on the Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation, scheduled to appear in Fredericton provincial court Friday to answer to July 20 counts of possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl and MDMA (better known as ecstasy or molly) for the purposes of trafficking; as well as fleeing from police in a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and driving while suspended.
All charges allege events in Fredericton.
When Judge Karen Lee called the case Friday morning, defence lawyer Alex Pate appeared on Polchies’ behalf.
