Paragliding gear stolen in Mazerolle Settlement
RCMP turns to the public for tips on theft of paramotor from a trailer sitting along side of highway last month
The RCMP are looking far and wide for the person responsible for an unusual theft last month near Fredericton, but given the item taken, officers may want to look up.
The Keswick detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Monday about a theft investigation for which it was seeking public assistance.
The item taken, the police report, is a “paramotor,” a large motor with a fan-like propeller used in paragliding.
“The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 19, 2023, from the side of the highway on Route 2 near mile marker 274, close to Hanwell,” the release said, noting it occurred in the area of Mazerolle Settlement.
“The paramotor was in the back of a small trailer that was left on the side of the highway when an individual forcibly entered through the back door of the trailer and took the paramotor.”
The specialized gear is described as a Vittorazi Atom 80 used for paragliding, with blades that are black, or black and red.
Anyone who has seen the paramotor since the time of the theft or with information about it is urged to contact the Keswick RCMP by phone at 506-357-4300.
