Cases before the courts are public. Obviously, these situations are upsetting to all involved, but the open-court system ensures transparency in the process. Furthermore, my philosophy is that by telling these painful stories, it allows for others - be they potential defendants or complainants - to avoid similar pitfalls in the future.
Pretending such events don't happen to real people, or that such charges are pursued in the courts against real people, doesn't help anyone.
