A federal parolee arrested earlier this month after an hours-long police lockdown of a northside neighbourhood had his wish come true Tuesday when a judge remanded him back to prison.

Vincent John Ryan Currie, 42, formerly of Fredericton, appeared by telephone in Fredericton provincial court from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre.

He faces a July 4 count of being unlawfully at large in violation of the federal prison sentence to which he was still subject.

Currie has been trying to get a judge to remand him back to federal prison to resume his earlier sentence as the courts deal with his latest offence.
