Offender found not criminally responsible
Fergus Charles Fitzpatrick, 43, remanded to psychiatric hospital for disposition, treatment
A transient man struggling with ongoing mental-health issues has been deemed not criminally responsible for an assault he committed earlier this year.
Fergus Charles Fitzpatrick, 43, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Monday by video conference from the Restigouche Hospital Centre, a secure psychiatric facility in Campbellton.

The Fredericton Police Force charged him two months ago with a summary count of assault, alleging an attack on Kevin McNamara, as well as an allegation of mischief causing damage, specifically to the door of Science East on Brunswick Street.
Both counts stemmed from March 27 events.
