Nominations open for capital arts honours
City of Fredericton presents achievement awards every two years to people, organizations
The City of Fredericton is planning to present awards for important contributions to the arts in the capital in a couple of months, but first, it needs candidates.
In a news release issued this week, the municipality announced it had opened nominations for the Arts Achievement Awards.
Created in 2017, the awards are presented every two years to recognize and celebrate individuals, organizations and/or businesses for cultural achievement and outstanding contributions to the arts in Fredericton.
Those submitting a nominee - through an online nomination form found here - need to include a description of the candidate’s contribution to arts and culture in the city, two letters of reference and a sample of the nominee’s work, if it’s applicable in the circumstances.
The deadline for applications is May 13.
The nomination form and required materials can also be mailed or dropped off in-person to:
Fredericton Recreation and Culture, 371 Queen St., Suite 101, Fredericton, N.B., E3B 1B1, marked to the attention of the Fredericton Arts Awards.
Those selected as recipients of the awards will be honoured at a ceremony June 12 at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
Honourees will receive a custom pewter pin, as have past winners: the SilverFish Photography Collective and Brigitte Clavette (2017), David McKay and Matt Carter (2019), and Emma Chevarie and Deborah Burns (2022).
