A Fredericton man who wasn’t present when his firearm-discharge case was called last fall has been arrested on the warrant of arrest that was issued as a result.
Darrell Richard Barnes, 51, of Boyne Court, had been held for a bail hearing last fall on a serious firearms charge, but a judge granted his release on strict conditions Nov. 9.
He was scheduled to return to Fredericton provincial court Nov. 23 to elect mode of trial and enter a plea on an RCMP count of discharging a firearm at Dustin Madden in Geary on Oct. 3 with intent to wound, maim or disfigure him, or to endanger his life.
But when that court date arrived, Barnes wasn’t present, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
