New search done in suspicious disappearance
RCMP’s major crime unit probes missing-person report on Kevin Sexton, 40, of Fredericton
Mounties searched an area of Upper Tracy over the weekend as part of a continuing investigation into the disappearance of a Fredericton man earlier this year.
The RCMP reported in a news release in early June that it was delving into a missing-person investigation revolving around Kevin Sexton, 40, of Fredericton.
“Kevin Sexton was last seen on May 31, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m. near the community of Tracy,” the June 4 release said.
“Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his well-being.”
Later that month, the force announced its major crime unit - which investigates homicide cases and other significant offences - was taking the lead on the Sexton investigation.
That unit deemed Sexton’s disappearance as suspicious.
In a followup post on social media Monday morning, the RCMP noted that officers searched a rural community outside of Fredericton over the Nov. 16-17 weekend.
“The New Brunswick RCMP’s major crime unit continues to search for 40-year-old Kevin Sexton, who has been missing since May 31,” it said.
“This weekend, as part of that investigation, the RCMP and specialized RCMP services conducted searches in the area of Fox Crescent, Upper Tracy.”
Sexton is described as being about 5’8” (173 centimetres) tall, weighing about 170 pounds (77 kilograms), with blue eyes and short grey hair.
Police advised he was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark blue sweatpants, and green and white shoes.
Sexton was involved in another RCMP major crime unit investigation, but as an accused person and offender.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the May 2, 2020, death of Justin Finnemore, 29, of Fredericton.
The investigation revealed Sexton fatally shot Finnemore in the Waasis area four years ago, and Sexton eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter in August 2021.
He was sentenced in December 2021 to 5½ years in prison, though he was given credit for time served on remand.
Anyone with tips on Sexton’s whereabouts or any other relevant information that could further the Mounties’ investigation is urged to call the major crime unit at 506-851-7281.

Seems like someone did the world a favour although it’s not a nice thing to say. The justice system in Canada needs an overhaul.
