Nasonworth homicide trial set for next fall
Teenager accused of second-degree murder in man’s death outside Fredericton on May 13
A teenager whom the RCMP charged with second-degree murder in the wake of a man’s death in Nasonworth this spring will stand trial in superior court next fall.
The murder case against a 17-year-old boy was on the Court of King’s Bench docket for motions day Monday morning to schedule trial dates.

The youth - who can’t be named, as his identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act - appeared in court by telephone from the Miramichi Youth Campus, the province’s youth jail. Present in person before Court of King’s Bench Justice Thomas Christie were prosecutor Cathleen Trafton and Gwynne Hearn, co-counsel for the defence.
The boy was arrested May 13 and charged with second-degree murder shortly thereafter after the RCMP responded to a report of a weapons-related assault at a Nasonworth address.
