The company that operates a large mill in Nackawic has denied it was responsible for safety lapses at the industrial facility that led to a worker sustaining chemical burns almost two years ago.

WorkSafe New Brunswick, the province’s workplace-safety watchdog agency, charged AV Group NB Inc. last year with April 18, 2023, counts under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The company, which is the largest employer in the up-river town with its industrial mill facility, was charged with failing to ensure the health and safety of a person with access to its premises and failing to ensure that Maritime Pressureworks Ltd., a company it had hired, was in compliance with the act as well.
