A murder suspect was sentenced to jail time Tuesday, but for a driving infraction, and a criminal charge - involving a stolen dog rather than a dead body - was withdrawn.

Erica Lea Ann Blyth, 41, of Wasson Road in Newcastle Creek near Minto, appeared by telephone from the New Brunswick Women’s Centre in Miramichi on Tuesday to answer to a couple of charges from last year.

Blyth is on remand at the women’s jail on charges of first-degree murder and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

But the charges before the court Tuesday were far less serious in nature.
