Mounties seek tips on Pepper Creek hit-and-run
Dark pickup truck left the accident scene the night of March 17, headed east on Route 10 in the direction of Noonan, Minto, police report
The RCMP is turning to the public for tips about a hit-and-run accident in the Pepper Creek area last month.
The Minto detachment of the force issued a news release Wednesday noting it’s investigating the incident, which occurred March 17 in Richibucto Road, an area also known locally as Pepper Creek, just outside the eastern city limit of Fredericton on the north side.
“On March 17, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., a vehicle drove into a taxi cab from behind as it was making a turn at the intersection of Homestead Drive and [Route] 10 in Richibucto Road, N.B., and failed to remain at the scene,” the release said.
“The suspect vehicle was seen driving away from the incident going eastbound on [Route] 10. The incident was reported to police that same evening.”
The intersection of Homestead Drive and Route 10 is near the top of what’s known as Popple Hill. Checker Cab has its headquarters and depot at that intersection.
“Police believe the suspect vehicle to be a dark-coloured pickup truck with an unknown licence plate,” the release said.
The Mounties are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or the pickup fleeing the area, or who has other information about the incident, to contact the Minto detachment at 506-357-4300.
Tipsters can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App or through Secure Web Tips online at www.crimenb.ca.
