Morning puff leads to morning fire
Fire department says ‘discarded smoking materials’ at residence prompted response
A fire caused by a failure to dispose of smoking materials properly should serve as a reminder to smokers that they need to make sure they butt out thoroughly after enjoying a puff, says a firefighting official.
Fredericton Fire Department assistant deputy chief David McKinley said firefighters responded to a call at a Bowlen Street residence on the capital’s north side at 10:06 a.m. Wednesday.

“Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fire at the rear of the building. Firefighters extinguished a fire on the exterior of the building,” he said.
