Fredericton Police Force says 26-year-old man facing potential drug-trafficking charges
A Fredericton man is facing potential drug-trafficking and driving charges after a chase on northside streets last week, the city police force reports.
Fredericton officers gave chase after a vehicle fled from police April 15 on the city’s north side and eventually arrested a 26-year-old man as a result, the Fredericton Police Force said in a news release Thursday afternoon.
“Tire deflation devices were utilized, and after a short foot chase the male was taken into custody,” it said.

“As a result of the arrest, approximately $13,000 worth of methamphetamine and fentanyl were seized, along with cash, a taser and a machete.”
The suspect was released from custody on conditions and a promise to appear in court at a later date, the release said.
Among the charges the suspect is expected to face when police lay an information in court, subject to approval by the Crown prosecutors’ office, are: flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of meth and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a machete for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited device (the taser), breach of a driving prohibition, breach of probation and obstruction.
