A Maugerville woman forged documentation to pose as a Fredericton lawyer in an effort to get more child support out of her ex-partner, court heard Monday.

Brittany Virginia Gallant, 32, Portobello Drive, appeared in Fredericton provincial court for a sentencing hearing Monday.

She’d previously pleaded guilty to a May 22, 2023, count of forgery, and Feb. 18 and 25, 2024, counts of theft.

Gallant had also been accused of a May 22, 2023, charge of possessing identity information for use to pose as Leah Good for the purpose of committing fraud or a deceitful offence.

However, that count has been reserved until after sentencing, at which time it’s expected the Crown will withdraw that charge.
