Masturbation suspect fit to stand trial
Andrew Derek Washburn, 32, of no fixed address, remanded after forgoing bail hearing
A homeless man sentenced earlier to time served in jail for an indecent act and other offences, only to be charged with public masturbation again weeks later, has been found fit to stand trial.
Andrew Derek Washburn, 32, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video conference from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Thursday for a fitness hearing.
He faces March 10 charges of an indecent act by masturbating in public in front of other people and obstruction of a police officer in execution of his or her duty, and March 30 attempted thefts of bicycles from Savage’s Bicycle Centre in downtown Fredericton and resisting a police officer.
