Marysville bridge to shut down for three days
Nashwaak River Bridge to close to traffic Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 as refurbishment continues
A key connection in the Marysville neighbourhood of Fredericton will be closed to traffic in the coming days as a long-running repair and refurbishment project continues.
The provincial government announced Tuesday afternoon that the Nashwaak River Bridge in Marysville will close to all traffic beginning Thursday at 4:30 a.m. and reopen Sunday at 7 a.m. for pouring and setting of a new concrete bridge deck.

“Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and plan travel accordingly during this time,” the province said.
The bridge has been under construction for, well, at least a couple of years now, and has been reduced to one lane of traffic, and will now shift to zero lanes for much of the Labour Day holiday weekend.
The government alert noted that if Thursday’s weather isn’t suitable for concrete pouring, the closure will begin Friday instead and continue into Monday instead.
The City of Fredericton, in sharing the advisory on social media, noted the bridge would be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during the relevant period.

I remember the construction of the Burton bridge in the late 60s and early 70s. The process took so long that there was a joke where someone cracked 'yup, workin' on the bridge, just like my dad and grandpa before him'. Bet same joke circulates now in Marysville 😂
