Manslaughter offender denies drug charges

A Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation who’s been returned to prison to resume a manslaughter sentence denied new criminal allegations Thursday alleged to have occurred this summer.
Evan James Polchies, 38, of Geegan Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Thursday remotely from the Springhill Institution in Nova Scotia to face new charges alleged to have occurred while he was on parole from prison this summer.
He faces counts of possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and MDMA (better known as ecstasy or molly) for the purposes of trafficking; flight from police in a motor vehicle; dangerous driving; and violation of a driving suspension, all alleged to have occurred in Fredericton on July 20.
