A man was shot and wounded in Upper Keswick in the early-morning hours of Wednesday, the RCMP reports, and officers are on the lookout for a young man in connection with the investigation.
The Keswick detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Wednesday afternoon, announcing its officers are investigating a shooting incident in Upper Keswick, about 30 kilometres northwest of Fredericton.
“On Oct. 9, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., members of the Keswick RCMP responded to a report of a man that had been shot outside a residence on Route 104 in Upper Keswick,” the release said.
“A man was later located suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.”
The detachment said officers were now looking for Austin Fox, 20, in the case.
The release didn’t indicate if he was considered a suspect or a witness.
The Mounties also advised that it was quickly determined that the shooting was “an isolated incident,” and that’s why no emergency Alert Ready message was pushed through telecommunications devices in this case.
The Keswick detachment is urging anyone with information about Fox’s whereabouts, who has video footage of the incident, who witnessed or or who otherwise has relevant information to call it at 506-357-4300.
