Man charged after violent parking-lot incident
Cruiz Webb, 30, of no fixed address, accused of assaulting Sandra Nason on Wednesday; Fredericton Police Force says situation was random, not indicative of larger safety threat
A man accused of assaulting and accosting a woman in the parking lot of a Canadian Tire store in Fredericton this week has been remanded pending a bail hearing.
In a Facebook post that’s been shared extensively in Fredericton circles, city resident Joe Nason wrote that his mother, Sandra Nason, had been assaulted in broad daylight by a stranger in the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store on Smythe Street on Wednesday.

“She parked centrally and exited her car where, within five to six feet, she had a large man attack her and try to hold a wet sponge or rag over her mouth while trying to hold her,” he wrote.
“She luckily covered her mouth and was screaming for help and tried to drop to the ground.”
Joe Nason wrote the man fled but was soon arrested by police because nearby witnesses had already called 911.
