Mactaquac Dam to close for one week
NB Power issues advisory this week about traffic closures along dam for work on bridge
The road along the Mactaquac Dam, which serves as a key link between the north and south sides of the St. John River in the capital region, is going to be closed to two-traffic for much of the next week.
NB Power issued an alert through social media Monday about the daytime closures of the dam road, beginning Wednesday.
“The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has advised that the Mactaquac Dam will be fully closed to traffic in both directions beginning Wednesday, June 18 through Tuesday, June 24, for important approach channel bridge work,” the utility reported on social media.
The expected closure times are as follows: Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday through Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The dam is frequently used by commuters in the Keswick Ridge and Kingsclear areas, as well as surrounding communities, to travel around the Fredericton region on a daily basis.

We’ve lived here since 2006 and I can’t remember a time when that was a 2 lane crossing.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to demo it and start fresh?
