Lower Woodstock woman denies mail theft
Darci Marie Cole, 41, is accused of stealing a package in Burton in October and will stand trial next spring
A Lower Woodstock woman will stand trial next spring on an allegation she stole mail in the capital region late last year.
Darci Marie Cole, 41, of Beardsley Road in Lower Woodstock, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday to answer to an RCMP charge of mail theft.
The count alleges she stole a package before it was delivered to the addressee in Burton on Oct. 6.
Cole pleaded not guilty. She represented herself Wednesday but noted she hopes to have legal counsel for trial.
“I need to hire a lawyer,” she said.
She’ll have plenty of time to retain counsel, as Judge Scott Brittain scheduled her trial for May 14, 2024.
