Lockdown alert linked to wanted man
Shelter-in-place order in Capital Manor area Thursday night involved Sean Kenneth Antonucci, 25, about whom police issued advisory this week as arrestable on several files
The shelter-in-place alert issued by police for a northside neighbourhood Thursday night stemmed from an alleged illegal entry into a home by a man wanted on outstanding warrants.
The Fredericton Police Force advised at about 8:35 p.m. Thursday through social media that officers were conducting an operation in the area of Capital Manor, a street in the Nashwaaksis area of the city.
“Residents are asked to shelter in place,” it said.
“There is no threat to public safety at this time, but the public is asked to avoid the area until further notice to allow police to safely do their work.”
The operation concluded early Friday, the police force posted shortly after 1 a.m., noting the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
That situation led to a proceeding in Fredericton provincial court Friday afternoon, as Sean Kenneth Antonucci, 25, appeared by telephone before Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc.
