Extensive damage in library break-in - cops
Police force turns to public for tips on intrusion at downtown facility Monday morning
No matter who did it, people are going to demand the courts throw the book at them.
The Fredericton Police Force issued an advisory on social media Monday evening indicating that officers are now investigating a break-in and property damage at the Fredericton Public Library in the city’s downtown core.
“On Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Fredericton police received a call for service regarding a possible break and enter at the Fredericton Public Library, located at 12 Carleton St.,” the force said in a Facebook post.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a broken window, indicating illegal entry. Further inspection revealed extensive damage inside the library.”
The damage was so extensive, police said, that the library will remain closed until the damage is assessed and repairs can be made.
Members with the force’s forensic identification unit were called in to process the scene as well, it said.
The police force is hoping members of the public will come forward with information that can further the investigation.
