Library break-in suspect fit to stand trial

A homeless man accused of breaking into and trashing Fredericton’s downtown public library will undergo a psychiatric assessment in the coming days to determine his fitness to stand trial.
Kelly Gordon Kleim, 30, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court remotely from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Thursday for a fitness hearing.
He faces Sept. 30 charges of break and enter, theft of computer tables and mischief causing damage at the Fredericton Public Library, as well as Sept. 9 counts of a break-in and property damage at Booster Juice on Prospect Street, Sept. 19 threats to Judith Maillet and Hayden Gullison, and an Oct. 1 failure to attend court.
