Keswick Ridge man charged with manslaughter
RCMP accuses Lucas LeClair, 31, of killing Josh Crouse, 39, in Lower Hainesville on July 21
The RCMP charged a Keswick Ridge man with manslaughter Wednesday in connecting with a sudden death this summer in Lower Hainesville.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s major crime unit issued a news release Wednesday afternoon, reporting that it charged Lucas LeClair, 31, of Tripp Settlement Road, in Fredericton provincial court with a count of manslaughter.
The charge alleges he killed Josh Crouse, 39, on July 21 in Lower Hainesville, about 50 kilometres northwest of Fredericton.
“The New Brunswick RCMP's major crime unit is investigating the death of a 39-year-old man in Lower Hainesville, N.B., as a homicide,” the RCMP said in a release in July.
“On July 21, 2024, at approximately 8:20 a.m., members of the Nackawic RCMP detachment responded to a report of a sudden death at a residence on Central Hainesville Road. When police arrived at the scene, they located the body of a man in the driveway.”
In Wednesday’s release, the major crime unit stated officers arrested Leclair on Tuesday at about 6 p.m.
Crown prosecutor Kyle Horsman objected to LeClair’s release Wednesday, and Judge Lyne Raymond remanded him pending a bail hearing, set for Oct. 1.
