Judge irked over RCMP summons screw-up
Brett Trueman Gosman, 40, of Lower Cambridge, was arrested Wednesday on warrant after police claimed they couldn’t find him, but court hears he was on house arrest, ankle monitor
A judge expressed disbelief upon learning a court issued a warrant for a man’s arrest after he couldn’t be served with new charges while he was on house arrest and subject to electronic monitoring.
Brett Trueman Gosman, 40, of Cherry Hill Road in Lower Cambridge, about 70 kilometres east of Fredericton, attended the Justice Building in downtown Fredericton for a sentencing hearing for several 2023 offences.
However, deputy sheriffs arrested him upon his arrival at the Fredericton courthouse because there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Consequently, he appeared before Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc in custody Wednesday afternoon.
