A notorious panhandler from Fredericton ranted after a judge convicted him Thursday of assaulting a fast-food worker last summer, though he was found not-guilty of a related indecent-act charge.

Robert (Robbie) Keith MacDonald, 48, of no fixed address, stood trial in Fredericton provincial court last month on June 25, 2023, counts of assault, indecent act and breach of probation.

He was back before Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc on Thursday to hear her decision on the trial.

She reviewed the testimony in rendering her decision, noting the charge arose from an incident at Dairy Queen on Prospect Street.
