A notorious Fredericton panhandler will have to wait a while longer before learning if he’ll be convicted of a robbery charge, as a judge sought further submissions on the Crown’s arguments.

Robert (Robbie) Keith MacDonald, 48, of no fixed address, stood trial last month on charges of using threats of violence to prevent resistance in an attempt to steal from Krista Ryan and thereby violating a probation order, both on Feb. 11.

Judge Cameron Gunn was scheduled to render his decision on the trial Friday, but instead, he said he had additional questions for prosecutor Jennifer Bueno.

Evidence at trial showed that on the morning in question, MacDonald approached Ryan, who was sitting in her car at a Tim Hortons location in Fredericton, waiting for her son to come out.
