Injurious-impaired suspect gets new counsel
Oft-delayed case of Samuel Havugimana, 41, of Fredericton, on charge of impaired driving causing bodily harm set over again so new lawyer can review file ahead of election, plea
A case alleging impaired driving caused an injurious crash in Fredericton last year that has been delayed repeatedly for four months was adjourned again Tuesday so new counsel can familiarize himself with the file.
Samuel Havugimana, 41, of Carman Avenue, was back in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday, scheduled to elect mode of trial and enter pleas to alternate charges impaired driving causing bodily harm and having an elevated blood-alcohol level with two hours of driving and causing bodily harm.
The charges stem from a collision on the Princess Margaret Bridge the night of July 31 that saw the other driver, Beth Wallace, taken to hospital with serious injuries.
