Incest trial delayed as new lawyer signs on
Robert Philip Warrington, 29, retains third defence counsel to represent him on sex charges
A former Harvey resident accused of sexually abusing his younger sister sought to postpone his trial Wednesday because he’s hired a new lawyer - for the second time.
Robert Philip Warrington, 29, of Dartmouth, N.S., but formerly of New Maryland and Harvey, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone Wednesday.
He faces RCMP charges of incest, sexual assault, sexual touching, invitation to sexual touching, voyeurism and provision of sexually explicit material to a minor. all alleging offences against his younger sister, Jasmine Warrington, in Harvey between Sept. 7, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2016.
Also attending the proceeding by phone was defence lawyer Isabelle Caissie, who took over the case last month from Spencer MacInnis, Warrington’s original defence counsel, who recently went on a maternity leave.
