An Oromocto man who originally denied an impaired-driving allegation opted instead to admit to his crime Friday ahead of his scheduled trial date.

Simranjit Singh, 31, of Howe Court, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Friday accompanied by defence lawyer Spencer MacInnis.

He previously pleaded guilty to alternate counts of impaired driving and having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving, but the defence had asked for the matter to be brought back before a judge early Friday.

Singh pleaded guilty to the blood-alcohol charge.
