‘I did it. I killed Mike’
Wade Thompson, 39, of Minto, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Monday in 2018 stabbing death of Michael Wagnies, 62, in victim’s home; sentencing is set for June 17
When Wade Thompson confessed to police that he’d stabbed and killed Michael Kenneth Wagnies, he wasn’t even on investigators’ radar as a possible suspect, court heard Monday.
Thompson, 39, of Main Street in Minto, appeared in custody before Court of King’s Bench Justice Thomas Christie at the Burton Courthouse on Monday, scheduled for a hearing on the admissibility of evidence ahead of his June jury trial for murder.
However, defence lawyer T.J. Burke noted his client was re-electing to be tried by King’s Bench judge alone, and Thompson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
