Highway ramp onto Liverpool Street closing
Transportation minister says access into neighbourhood from Vanier Highway is unsafe, but residents say move is unnecessary, as previous mitigation efforts already solved problem
Mark Bruce has lived on Liverpool Street for 16 years, and he says there have been safety issues with a highway access point onto the street over the years.
But he says better signage and lighting have improved the situation, and he’ll miss the convenience of the quick access into his neighbourhood.
The provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Department issued a news release Thursday morning announcing the ramp from Route 7 (better known as the Vanier Highway) onto Liverpool Street on Fredericton’s south side will be shut down, effective 9 a.m. Monday.
