Heavy rain to last into Tuesday
Rainfall warning issued for southern areas of New Brunswick, calling for as much as 60 mm
A rainfall warning issued for southwestern New Brunswick has been extended to include all southern areas of the province.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather service issued a rainfall warning just before 5 a.m. Sunday, predicting as much as 30 to 55 millimetres of rain Monday for parts of New Brunswick in its southwestern corner and south coast.

Areas subject to the warning included Fredericton and southern York County, Saint John and county, St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County, Woodstock and Carleton County and Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County.
However, in an updated advisory Monday morning, the weather service expanded the warning to include other areas, including Oromocto, Sussex, Grand Lake, Fundy National Park and the Moncton region.
It’s now calling for 30 to 60 mm of rain, lasting until Tuesday morning.
“Rain is expected to move into western New Brunswick [on Monday] morning and move slowly eastward through the day,” the updated rainfall warning stated.
“The heaviest rain is forecast to begin [Monday] evening and will continue over southeastern areas into Tuesday morning before ending or briefly changing over to snow or ice pellets and then ending.”
The Fundy Coast is expected to see the greatest amounts of rain in this system, it said.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” the advisory stated.
