Federal weather service advises of increased risk of heat illness for Monday and Tuesday
Most areas of New Brunswick - including Fredericton and surrounding communities - will see riskier heat and humidity levels Monday and Tuesday, warns the federal weather service.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather service issued heat warnings for all areas of the province Sunday afternoon, save for the northwestern quadrant.
The alerts note that southern, eastern and central New Brunswick, as well as the Acadian Peninsula, will see humidex values reaching as high as 39 C over the next two days.

“Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion,” the advisory said.
The maximum temperature Monday in the capital region is expected to be 31 C with humidity levels making it feel more like 36 to 39 C. The maximum for Tuesday is forecast to be 31 C as well, as the humidex reaching 36 to 38 C.
The overnight low temperature for Monday is forecast to be 18 C.
“Cooler conditions can be expected along parts of the coast,” the heat warning said.
“Extreme heat can affect everyone’s health. Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day. Never leave people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.”
