A man from the Upper River Valley area who was supposed to stand trial on a murder charge arising out of a Lincoln shooting incident in 2023 admitted to manslaughter Friday.

Furthermore, he was released from custody for a second time.

Joshua Kristopher Raines, 49, of Route 565 in Holmesville, appeared in the Court of King’s Bench at the Burton Courthouse on Friday morning for a pre-trial proceeding in a homicide prosecution.

He was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Lucas Richard Solomon Polchies, who was shot along a roadside in Lincoln in the early-morning hours of March 12, 2023.
