After almost a year in custody on attempted-robbery and weapons charges, Chad Atkinson once again became a free man Friday.

Fredericton provincial court Judge Natalie LeBlanc rendered her decision on trial Friday, acquitting Atkinson, 31, of Farnham Road in Haneytown, on charges of attempted robbery, possessing a pellet gun for the purpose of committing an offence, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching probation.

The charges arose after the RCMP received a call the afternoon of Aug. 30 that there was a robbery in progress at the TD Bank branch on Onondoga Street in Oromocto.
