Fredericton man to stand trial for alleged sword attack

A Fredericton man accused of domestic violence - including assaulting a woman with a sword - will stand trial in more than a year’s time on the various charges against him.
Kyle Brennan McCoy, 34, of Irvine Street, elected Monday to be tried in provincial court and pleaded not guilty to six charges all stemming from allegations of domestic violence.
He denied assaulting Amber Hawkins, assaulting her with a sword, assaulting her by choking her, confining her unlawfully, threatening to cause her death and/or bodily harm and violating his probation.
The charges all allege events between Dec. 26 and Jan. 5 in Fredericton.
Judge Cameron Gunn scheduled his trial for March 20, 2024.
