Fredericton man reported missing - RCMP
Kevin Sexton, 40, was last seen Friday in Tracy, about 35 kilometres south of capital
Officers with the RCMP’s Oromocto detachment are trying to locate a Fredericton man last seen last week just south of the capital, and they’re hoping the public can help.
The Oromocto detachment issued a news release Tuesday afternoon, advising that Kevin Sexton, 40, of Fredericton, had been reported as missing to police.
“Kevin Sexton was last seen on May 31, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m. near the community of Tracy,” the release said.
“Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his well-being.”
Tracy is located 35 kilometres south of Fredericton.
The missing man is described as being about 5’8” (173 centimetres) tall, weighing about 170 pounds (77 kilograms), with blue eyes and short grey hair.
“He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark blue sweatpants, and green and white shoes,” the release said.
Sexton made headlines four years ago when he was charged with second-degree murder in the May 2, 2020, death of Justin Finnemore, 29, of Fredericton.
He shot Finnemore in the Waasis area on that date.
Sexton eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter in August 2021 and was sentenced in December 2021 to five years and six months in prison, reduced by more than two years to give him credit for time spent on remand.
The RCMP is urging anyone who may have seen him since Friday or who has information on his whereabouts to contact the Oromocto detachment at 506-357-4300.
