Fredericton man faces stalking, sexual-assault charges
Willis Oran Storey, 56, also faces related charges alleging possessing guns without a licence, storing them improperly
A Fredericton man accused of following a woman for months and sexually assaulting her late last year has asked a court for time to seek legal counsel on the charges.
Willis Oran Storey, 56, of Hughes Street, made his first appearance in provincial court Tuesday to answer to four criminal charges.
He’s accused of harassing a woman between April 1 and Dec. 21 by repeatedly following her around Fredericton, making her fear for her safety; and of sexually assaulting the same woman Dec. 21.
At the Crown’s request, Judge Mary Jane Richards ordered a publication ban on information that would tend to identify the complainant.
Storey also faces related counts of possessing firearms - a Remington Nylon 66 .22 calibre rifle and a Cooey Model 84 shotgun - without a licence and storing them in a careless manner.
Duty counsel Melinda Ponting-Moore said Storey wasn’t prepared to enter pleas to the summary charges and asked for an adjournment so he could seek and retain a defence lawyer.
Richards set the case over to March 14.
