Fredericton man dies in northern crash - RCMP
Single-vehicle accident claimed 26-year-old's life Tuesday morning, Mounties report
A 26-year-old man from Fredericton died after the vehicle in which he was a passenger crashed Tuesday morning in northern New Brunswick, reports the RCMP.
“On Dec. 26, 2023, shortly after 9 a.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 2, in Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska,” the police force said in a news release issued Wednesday morning.
“There were three occupants inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash. One passenger died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver and second passenger were transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.”
Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska is located about 35 kilometres northwest of Grand Falls, and about 30 km southeast of Edmundston.
In addition to RCMP officers, the release said, personnel with the Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Coroner's Office attended the scene.
The Mounties also had a collision reconstructionist on hand to aid with the investigation, which is ongoing.
