Fredericton man denies sex-assault charge
Defence considering application to introduce evidence about complainant’s sexual history
A Fredericton man accused of sexually assaulting a former partner has denied the allegation, and his counsel is looking at possibly raising the issue of the complainant’s prior sexual history.
A 30-year-old northside man elected to be tried in provincial court and pleaded not guilty Friday to a count of sexual assault, alleged to have occurred June 1 and Aug. 31, 2022.

The complainant in the case is a former romantic partner of the defendant, and there’s a court-ordered publication on information that would tend to identify her. Given the previous relationship between them, the Fredericton Independent isn’t naming the accused so as to comply with the order.
