Fredericton man denies meth-trafficking charge
Joel Douglas Perley, 47, faces additional counts of flight from police, failure to attend court
A Fredericton man denied an allegation Tuesday that he had methamphetamines for sale last fall, and will be headed to trial on that and other charges.
Joel Douglas Perley, 47, of Biggs Street, elected Tuesday to be tried in Fredericton provincial court and pleaded not guilty to a city police charge of possessing meth for the purpose of trafficking Oct. 1.
He also entered not-guilty pleas to an Oct. 1 count of failing to stop a vehicle while being pursued by police and a Dec. 19 count of failing to attend court.
Judge Scott Brittain set the case over to July 13 for a management appearance for the Crown and defence to discuss how much time will be needed for trial. It’s expected trial dates will be set at that time.
