Fredericton man denies drug, robbery charges
Nicholas Reginald Morehouse, 31, also accused of possessing Taser, stolen SUV
A Fredericton man denied serious charges Thursday involving allegations he committed a violent robbery and that he possessed meth for the purpose of trafficking.
Nicholas Reginald Morehouse, 31, of Albert Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from a provincial jail Thursday.
Present in person was his defence counsel, Heather Daigle, who noted her client was electing to be tried in provincial court and pleading not guilty to all counts.
Morehouse is accused of using violence to steal a gold chain from Monte Dickeson and possessing a weapon (a Taser) for the purpose of committing an offence Sept. 10; of possessing meth for trafficking purposes and possessing a stolen 2012 Dodge Journey belonging to Marcus Gray on Nov. 25; and of breaching a probation order Jan. 26.
Given the amount of time expected to be needed for trial, Judge Cameron Gunn set the matters over to Jan. 18 for a case-management conference to determine if the issues to be tested at trial can be narrowed.
Trial dates on the various charges will be set at that time.
